Default A member of the European Center: growth will slow in 2019 but we will remain in the positive region

"European growth will slow in 2019," European Central Bank Board member Ewald Novotny said on Friday, adding that growth in Europe would be slower in 2019, but would remain in the positive region.

European growth will slow in 2019
Said Germany was likely to see a "very low growth rate" in the last quarter of 2018, adding it was too early to say whether the slowdown would be structural.

He pointed out that there are a number of risks that affect economic growth, similar to the unconfirmed results of US-China trade talks, and should be seen against the background of "very strong economic dynamics over the past eight years."

Novotny confirmed that economic data has undoubtedly developed worse than expected, but the ECB is likely to await economic data from the first quarter of 2019 before deciding on changes in price guidance.

The central banker said he did not expect major policy changes in the near future, adding that the first sign of change should be monitoring whether the central bank in the euro area would change the risk rating from "broadly balanced" to "downside."
