A trader buys and sells securities (shares, bonds, futures, options) on the stock exchange, acting on own initiative and seeking to make profit directly from the trading process. Those who trade currencies and commodities are also called traders. A trader works both on the stock market and on the over-the-counter markets.

Traders can be distinguished on the basis of several factors: the deal duration, form of ownership, trading goals, and motivation.

      By duration of transactions.
      1. Intraday trader opens and closes orders within one trading day (or one trading session), closes all positions until the end of the trading day. Intraday trader has a relatively small deposit up to $1,000 and tends to close or lock positions for night time to avoid uncontrolled losses.
      2. Scalper holds a position in a security for a short period of time: from a few seconds to ten minutes (scalping). Profit from one deal is small, but scalpers make a large number of trades a day. Brokers working in post-Soviet countries impose different restrictions against this type of trading.
      3. Position (short-term) trader concludes deals lasting several days, closes all positions before liquidity falls (holidays, summer holidays, etc.).
      4. Medium-term trader makes several transactions a year, closes positions when weekly trends change.
      5. Long-term investor makes deals that can last several years, closes positions when global trends change.
It is believed that intraday and position traders usually use technical analysis, while medium-term and long-term investors opt for fundamental analysis.

      By form of ownership.
      1. Professional traders work in financial institutions or firms (insurance companies, banks, mutual funds, brokers, dealers). They usually have a special education and a license for implementation of corresponding activities. They trade using money and their companies or their clients. The legislation in different countries requires such traders to have personal certificates.
      2. Private or independent traders work for themselves, performing operations using their money and in their own interests. To access the trading systems, independent traders use serviñes provided by intermediaries (brokers, dealers). The operations they perform usually do not require licensing. Independent traders often do not have a special education and have to consult with professional investors.
      3. Mutual funds and banks that have the appropriate licenses transfer funds to traders for management. Thus, they can not attract loans secured by assets held in trust, including through the margin trading mechanisms.

      By trading goals.
      1. Operative executes various operations or client requests (for example, a trader buys currency to purchase equipment or sells currency earnings to pay wages). This is usually done by professional traders.

      2. Investor considers a deal as a long-term or medium-term investment.
      3. Speculator concludes makes deals with a view to profit from the difference in price.
      4. Arbitrageur makes counter transactions (one for purchase, another for sale) with related instruments in order to profit from the movement of prices of one asset relative to another, leveling the general movement of the market price of a particular asset.
      5. Hedger makes a deal to reduce or fix the level of risk, for example, the risk of changes in purchasing prices for agricultural products or currency quotes. Hedging is often used by commodity producers in the form of options or futures to ensure the possibility of financial planning within the production cycle.

      By motivation.
      1. Players trade for entertainment and try their fate.
      2. Investors are looking for new ways to increase their capital.
      3. Money-seekers are looking for an additional, relatively passive income.
      4. Traders that are looking for a long-term stable profit (unemployed, programmers, pensioners, housewives).
      _________________________________________________

Do not mix up a trader with other market participants that conduct transactions on customer requests or in their interests (dealers, brokers, distributors).

The main work of a trader usually consists in analyzing the current market situation and concluding trades via the Internet with a broker.
Some compare trading to the work of the store owner. However, in my opinion, this comparison is not correct. While both of them tend to profit from the difference in the prices of purchases and sales, but their methods, strategies, and knowledge are very different. For example, a modern trader can not profitably trade without trading robots, indicators, not to mention without a computer, Android device, iPhone, or tablet.

Although they both seek to sell more expensive and buy cheaper. Moreover, they are also responsible for their profits.

A trader, like any entrepreneur, is self-employed, risks own money, relies not on luck but on knowledge, experience, and personal discipline.

All market participants can be divided into 4 groups by their choice of market analysis type.

      1. Technical analysis.
Some traders prefer technical analysis, use indicators, candlestick analysis, wave analysis or patterns on price charts, as well as AI (neural networks). It is the biggest group, which is not surprising because there is a lot of information on technical analysis on the Internet and any beginner can find it for free.

      2. Fundamental analysis.
Other traders analyze the impact of various global events on price behavior in the future: the release of financial news, reports of financial organizations, natural disasters, catastrophes and other events affect financial instruments.

      3. Own methods of analysis.
There are a lot of traders that use their own experience and analysis methods in their trade, often combining the first two types of analysis, or using their own trading robots, as well as gambling traders that use the Martingale method, which is an increase of the deal size in each subsequent unprofitable transaction.

      4. Intuition.
Experienced traders trade by intuition. There not a lot of traders with more than 5 years of experience of successful trading. The secret of their long successful trading is quite simple: a huge experience of visual analysis of charts, plus the so-called "sense of the market", based on the sense of time and the rhythms of the market. They manage to analyze the market mechanically or even subconsciously on the basis of their extensive trading experience.

This classification is quite arbitrary and subjective because there are always those who simultaneously use several methods of market analysis. Many traders also use several trading systems at the same time, which allows them to cover losses from trading on one system based on profits from another.
In addition, traders can set trading signals on the MT4 platform. A professional trader is trading, while a subscriber copies the deals in the platform (ForexCopy).

      How many successful forex traders?
According to statistics, in the Russian Federation, the number of regular clients of various brokerage companies exceeds a million. According to forecasts, by 2020 there will be 20 million traders in Russia.

Almost every third forex trader is British.
About 18% of forex traders live in the US, while more than 7.5% of traders are from Japan.
So, only a small part of traders successful professional traders, which earn on the growth or fall of prices, can proudly call themselves pure bulls or bears. For the rest, market participants invented less delicate nicknames:

      - Rabbits cowardly close orders, as soon as they reach at least some profit.
      - Sheep always doubt whether to open a position or not, always follow the crowd. They enter the market when others are starting to fix profits.
      - Pigs are so greedy that they lose money in anticipation of greater earnings.

The market sentiment is not always made by large investors.
Rabbits make up a significant portion of market turnover.
Sheep increase volatility by opening and closing positions.
While numerous examples of increased activity of pigs more than once provoked serious crises not only on Forex but also on major world exchanges.
So, the role of traders in the global financial system should not be underestimated.

Recently, new types of traders have appeared: option and cryptocurrency traders.
The first ones are those who trade options, and the second ones trade cryptocurrencies.
Options do not require such a thorough analysis, like currency trading, so they are more attractive to non-professional traders, allowing them successfully earn using their strategy.

Today cryptocurrencies still remain the most attractive trading tool, as they will rise in the long term. But nowadays, not only brokers introduce various restrictions like high spreads (commissions) but also governments impose their limitations on the cryptocurrency trading due to underpayment to central banks.

A trader is one who does trading, meaning the act of trading is to generate profit consistently over time and with a controlled method.

That is the simple answer, now we have to break all these and explain what they are. So, what is trading and profit and what does consistently over time mean? Well to me that refers to a controlled method that the “trader” uses, a method with rules about trade sizes and trade times. What he can do and what he should do, maybe the method has indicators that say things or dictate rules and maybe those indicators are made up of only the price.

The method that the trader uses has to have some sort of control, be it by stop loss or other means such as trade size regulation or rules for how many positions are allowed to be on one instrument. The method needs to have a good track record with low drawdown so as to allow the trader to harvest profits without a choppy equity curve. The method needs to be able to scale and fit many or all instruments, because all methods that are any good should work in any market and on any instrument.
If the “trader” is doing all these things and is creating profit with them regularly, meaning every day or so then I say that he Is a trader and that this is what makes a trader what he is.

Trader is a person that operate in forex or stock market and open or close positions in these market. They are buy and close transactions. Trader is one who buy or sell one currency against other currency.

I think trading is not simple business and to be a trader like we here it is big advantage and we all know when we are trader because we operate in this market. It is not possible to be a trader without any experience or knowledge and i trade this market for some time now - 6 month and i call myself trader because i have already some experience and understanding when to open or close this exact transaction.

There are so may type of trader that exist in the Forex business, they are Intraday trader, Scalper, Short, Medium and Long term trader. If there is a trader, then there is a risk of loss and profit. A person who want to be a trader in any business around the world's, not only the forex business, they must be learn, know and accept the risk of loss. We must face the risk of loss with build risk management, learn build it to reduce the risk of loss but it is not mean you can avoid the risk of loss for 100% success because no one can do that.

A forex trader is someone who is skilled in the art of doing analysis to know which currency pair to buy or sell in the Forex Market depending on the favourable conditions that he sees, good forex traders combine their willingness to take risks with careful analysis and with some amount of caution. The would be successful trader studies and stays updated about national monetary and trade policies, announcements by central banks and other news, and the patterns revealed by market trends. To be a forex trader, you also need a good forex broker who will provide you with real time quotes, online trading software and reasonable prices. There are many traders that have lost money because they did not do their home work well before making investments, they thought forex is simple, becoming a good trader takes time and also involves some real hard work.

Traders are those who trade buy or sell on this business. If some traders are buying there must be some traders who are selling the currencies. So we can always depend on knowledge and skills to make good income from this business. Always bear in mind that Forex is really risky business so you need to know how to control the risk properly. If you want to succeed in this business then you need to do lot of hard work so that you will be able to become a good and successful trader. A good trader will always be patient to wait for a good chance to come and yet they are able to generate good income from this business.

In my opinion i see that the traders are the persons that can make earnings more than their loses in this business from their buying and selling for the pairs because there's no any business have the profits only and any business have the losses and have the profits so the person that can make profits more than loses called a trader in Forex business because :

1- He can survive in this business For long time and this make him able to cover any loses he do it while his trading .
2- He can control on his emotions to avoid the greed and the trading with very high risk .
3- He always trade with plan and good strategy .
4- He always avoid the depend on the luck while his trading .
5- He always trade with low risk and money management .

So i see that this is the real trader that can survive in this market with very low risk but the trader that want to make huge profits by very big lots i see that he is not a trader but he is a gambler .

A peoples who doing trade's on their life is called as a trader. Trader in the forex business who are buying and selling the currency pairs, include our selves is a part of retail traders. Trader in the forex business is face a loss and profit, when trader A got profit on their trading then on the other sides there is trader B who face loss. That is the simple view of a trader in this business but in the real life, trader can be different for example if we see the market, a trader selling their goods and or services for paper money in live. In forex business our paper money must be exchange to digital money first then we can trade online forex business.
