      Interbank Market :
Is The Global Network Of Banks Which Exchange Different Currencies With Each Other Either On Behalf Of Themselves Or Their Customers And Each Bank Has Its Trading Desk Called A Dealing Desk And The Dealing Is Done Between Them Directly Or Via Electronic Brokerage Platform and Interbank Market Plays An Important Role In Forex Market Because It Is Considered as a Wholesale Market Which Most Currency Transactions Are Channeled, There are Three Main Ingredients Or Types To Interbank Market Trading These Three Ingredients are :
      - The Spot Market : It is For Currency Price At The Time Of The Trade .
      - The Forward Market : Is An Agreement To Exchange Currencies At an Agreed Upon Price On A Future Date .
      - Swift ( Society For World Wide Interbank Financial Telecommunications ) : And it allows Them To Transfer Foreign Exchange To Each Other .

And All These Banks Always Be In Contact With Each other Continuously And That Process Makes Sure Exchange Rate Are Uniform Around The World So Exchange Rates Are Determined By The Interbank Market .

The interbank market is the global network used by financial institutions to trade currencies between themselves. While some interbank trading is done by banks on behalf of large customers, most interbank trading is proprietary, which means that it takes place on behalf of the banks ' own accounts. The interbank market for forex serves commercial turnover of currency investments as well as a large amount of speculative, short- term currency trading. According to data compiled in 2004 by the Bank for International Settlements, approximately 50% of all forex transactions are strictly interbank trades.

The interbank market is a market reserved for banks. They exchange between themselves short-term financial assets, between one day and one year. It is an over-the-counter market, which means that banks deal and trade freely between themselves.

The exchanges between banks are at the interbank market rate: the price of money on a day-to-day basis. This price is calculated by averaging the rates charged during the day.

The interbank market, denoted with the acronym "IFM" (Interbank Foreign exchange Market) is the top level foreign exchange market where banks exchange different currencies. Trading between these banks represents an agreement to exchange the approved amounts of currency at the specified rate.
The interbank market is an important segment of the foreign exchange market because it is the wholesale market through which most currency transactions are channeled.
Another feature of the IFM is that it is not regulated and decentralized, there is no specific location where these currency transactions take place.
For example in my country, Nigeria, the market is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The interbank market is a worldwide market where banks trade large amount of money amongst themselves. Banks can trade for very large customers of trade in very large amounts for their own accounts. The interbank market came into existence after the gold standard for fixing currency rates against the price of gold was dropped, and currency rates were allowed to float freely (be determined naturally by demand and supply).
The interbank market is what really provides liquidity for forex trading and interbank transactions makes up over 50% of all forex transactions. The banks are majorly responsible for fixing bid and ask prices depending on demand and supply. The minimum amount a bank can trade is $5 million and that is why only very wealthy customers trade on the interbank level, others just engage in retail trading like you and me.
The inter bank market is decentralized and can affect the financial health of a country either good or bad.

The interbank market is an important sector of the foreign exchange market. It is a wholesale market in which currency transactions are channeled. The interbank market is a network of international banks operating in financial centers around the world. These banks also maintains trading operations to facilitate speculation for proprietary trading and to provide currency trading services for their customers. The banks operating in the interbank market can either deal with one another directly, or through electronic brokering platforms, such as, The Electronic Brokering Services (EBS) and Thomson Reuters.
The interbank market is largely unregulated and decentralized, and it is developed without any significant governmental oversight. There is no specific location or exchange where these currency transactions take place. The interbank market for foreign exchange trades serves commercial turnover of currency investments as well as a large amount of speculative short- term currency trading. The advent of the floating rate system allows increasingly rapid trading on a global basis, in which, voice brokers over the telephone systems matches buyers and sellers in the early days of interbank forex trading, but was later replaced by computerized systems.

The autumn of 1998 provides a setting in which to test the performance of the interbank market during a potential financial crisis. This period witnessed Russia's effective default on its sovereign bonds and the near collapse of the hedge fund Long-Term Capital Management. Despite these negative shocks to bank capital and increased uncertainty in financial markets more generally, the federal funds market still effectively channeled liquidity to those institutions in need at rates consistent with Federal Reserve intentions. Further, risk premiums on overnight lending were largely unaffected and lending volumes increased, suggesting that the federal funds market performed well during this period.

The interbank market is one of the highest levels of the foreign exchange market, with major financial institutions and banks. Whether these groups deal directly with each other or use electronic brokering platforms, all their transactions must be conducted with extreme transparency.
Key components of the interbank market
      †Front market
The futures market is an extremely informal place where futures are entered. Transactions that are made between two investors are standardized and have low virtual opportunities.
      Instant Market
Also referred to as the cash market, the spot market is where public concerns are discussed. Most people who expect immediate results come close to this governing body because here the goods are exchanged for immediate delivery.
      Swift Market
The abbreviation of interbank banking association worldwide, the SWIFT market is a network provider that allows financial institutions around the world to exchange information. Any question concerning the activities of the two parties is discussed here.
      open market
In the interbank market, transactions involving repurchase agreements are referred where the central bank of a country buys or sells government-owned bonds for a specified maturity period to the foreign authorities. Through this can control the amount of liquidity.

By simple definition, The interbank market is the global network used by financial establishments to trade currencies with each other.†Though some interbank trading is done by the financial institutions on behalf of large customers, most is proprietary, Which means that it takes place for the banks' own accounts.

The interbank market for forex performs commercial turnover of currency investments and a large amount of abstract, short-term currency trading. Based on the data gotten in 2004 by the Bank for International Settlements, about 50% of all forex transactions are strictly interbank trades.

At the very top of the forex market ladder is the interbank market. Which comprises of the largest banks in the world and some smaller banks, the participants of this market trade directly with each other
