Default Iran refuses to comply with US "illegal" oil sanctions

Iran refuses to comply with "illegal" US oil sanctions Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Zangani said during a visit to Iraq on Thursday that Tehran did not intend to comply with US sanctions on its oil exports, describing Washington's actions as "totally illegal."

Iran refuses to comply with US "illegal" oil sanctions

In November, the United States imposed sanctions on Iranian crude and threatened countries that continue to trade with Iran "with severe and rapid punishment."

Washington said its goal was to make Tehran's oil exports zero.

The United States has granted temporary exemptions from sanctions to China, India, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Greece, Taiwan and Turkey. Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs and Trade Amir Hussein Zamani-Nia said at the weekend that those countries do not want to buy oil from Tehran anymore. However, the official stressed that the number of potential buyers of Iranian crude has risen as a result of "the competitive nature of the market and the growth of particles for further profitability."

West Texas crude for delivery next month fell 1.17% to $ 51.75 a barrel
Brent crude for March fell 1.09% to $ 60.77 a barrel.
