Default UK's Retail Sales during the Virus

As we already know, the overall world Economy has taken a serious hit due to the Corona Virus outbreak. UK is one such country which is suffering significantly due to the virus. A few weeks back, UK Govt announced 80% wage subsidy for most of the workers just to encourage them to continue spending during this period of crises. It doesn't look like people are still willing to spend their hard earned money during these unprecedented times. This was evident in the latest retail sales news release today which dropped by a massive 18% month to month.

      Default

18% drop down month to month is a very sharp decline. It means that if people were spending a 1000 GBP in a month, its now down to 820 GBP a month. This means that the overall revenue that the companies generate drops by 18% in just the last 30 days which will have a very serious impact on the people who are employed by these businesses. Such a drop alone can result in so many job losses as the companies struggle to pay employee wages and balance their cash flows.
